Khushal Khan Khattak University (KKKU) today officially launched its ambitious Monsoon Plantation Drive, a collaborative initiative with the District Youth Office and the Deputy Commissioner Office Karak. This significant project aims to promote environmental sustainability and create a greener, healthier ecosystem on and around the university’s main campus.
The formal inauguration of the drive took place at the university, where Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammad Tahir Khalily led the tree plantation to mark the occasion. The event was a testament to the shared commitment of all collaborating parties toward environmental stewardship and fostering a sense of responsibility among the youth.
“The Monsoon Plantation Drive, in partnership with the District Youth Office and Deputy Commissioner Office Karak, reflects our dedication to creating a vibrant and eco-friendly space for our students, faculty, and staff,” stated Professor Dr. Khalily. “This endeavor goes beyond mere beautification; it is about instilling a sense of responsibility toward our planet and contributing to a greener future for generations to come.”
The launch ceremony was attended by key figures, including District Youth Officer Kamran Ullah and Prof. Nimat Ullah from GPGC, underscoring the strong inter-organizational partnership. Key university officials, including Controller of Examinations Muhammad Rahim and Provost Dr. Shad Muhammad, along with heads of departments and faculty members, were also present to show their collective support. Their presence highlighted the widespread institutional commitment to the success of the plantation drive and other developmental projects.
Through this initiative, KKKU aims to raise environmental awareness and actively contribute to national efforts to combat climate change and improve air quality. The collaboration with local government offices is expected to expand the drive’s impact beyond the campus, encouraging wider community participation.
