INTRODUCTION

The Bachelor of Studies (BS) Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program was started in 2024 in Khushal Khan Khattak University Karak. The MLT is an emerging field for the study of diagnostic tests for investigation and diagnosis of diseases. This program aims to train students in the basic medical laboratory techniques used in clinical chemistry, hematology, blood bank, microbiology, immunology, molecular biology, and histopathology laboratories. This program is designed to train and educate students about basic clinical knowledge, diseases diagnostic test procedures, laboratory instrumentation, biosafety, and quality control methods to get accurate results for the diagnosis of diseases and other pathological conditions. Moreover, the students will be trained with modern molecular techniques for advanced diagnostics and research.

VISION

To be recognized as a leading center of excellence in Medical Laboratory Technology, dedicated to producing skilled, ethical, and research-oriented professionals who advance healthcare through diagnostic innovation, quality laboratory practice, and scientific discovery

MISSION

  • Deliver comprehensive, competency-based education in medical laboratory sciences that prepares graduates for national and global healthcare environments.
  • Promote critical thinking, ethical responsibility, and lifelong learning in the application of diagnostic technologies.
  • Support faculty and student-led research to enhance laboratory medicine, diagnostics, and public health outcomes.
  • Facilitate practical training and clinical exposure through partnerships with hospitals, diagnostic labs, and healthcare institutions.
  • Maintain the highest standards of laboratory safety, quality control, and professional integrity, in line with national and international healthcare regulations.

OBJECTIVES

  • To Prepare graduates who can effectively assist other health professionals in the delivery of quality health services.
  • To Prepare graduates for all levels of the health care delivery system from the primary to the tertiary level, with emphasis on support in laboratory-based diagnosis.
  • To Provide the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed for clinical competence and laboratory-based diagnosis; to replace the conventional methods of pre-service training.
  • To Equip the graduates with modern skills and latest technical knowledge and bring them at par with other national and international level.
