Almighty Allah has created this Universe with the greatest wisdom and skill. Chemistry is the science that examines the materials of the universe and the changes these materials undergo, so been essential for all fields of life. It has been playing an important role in the development of human race since long. Its involvement in providing energy, food, shelter, clothing, medicine and other necessities to human beings makes it a versatile field of knowledge. Thus, the study of Chemistry as a subject is important in the progress of human beings on a global level. The main aims of the curricula of the Department of Chemistry are to impart a sound knowledge in a creative and analytical manner. For this purpose, different methods of explanation, investigation, organization of data and its utilization are taught to the students. This helps them in applying Chemistry in social and economic spheres, such as health, agriculture, industry and defense. Further, the courses offered by the Department of Chemistry improve the students, writing, oral communication and computer skills, thereby meeting the needs of the changing national as well as global scenario. It encourages the students to become independent learners, broaden their knowledge, and develop their capabilities. The Department of Chemistry at Khushal Khan Khattak University, Karak (KKKUK) started functioning in September, 2019 with initial enrolment of 35 talented students. Currently the department offers BS programs with specialization in emerging technological and multidisciplinary fields such as Physical Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Biochemistry and Applied Chemistry. With the passage of departmental maturity, we will soon have announced MS and Ph.D. programs in various field of chemistry.

With all the programs running in the department simultaneously, the department has always considered its faculty as most important towards imparting quality education. There has been always a strong faculty also in terms of numbers and to cover divergent areas like analytical chemistry, organic chemistry, electrochemistry, polymer chemistry, coordination chemistry, environmental chemistry, computational chemistry, medicinal chemistry, solution chemistry, organometallics, organic synthesis, chemistry of natural products and spectroscopy etc. The members of the Department of Chemistry faculty are instilled with a strong desire to seek and investigate unknown areas of research. Their research focuses on chemical oscillations, electrocatalysis, chemical synthesis, nanoparticles, polymer nano-composites, natural products chemistry, chemical biology, biochemistry, medicinal chemistry metal ions and gas sensing etc.
